Alabama - Mississippi

Evaluated exploration deals for possible investment opportunities.

Statistically QC'd, correlated and plotted over 50,000 feet of core lithology, porosity, and permeability data with over 450,000 feet of well log data, and 2,700 thin-section photomicrographs in a two year period.

Combined seismic and well data to reconstruct ancient environmental conditions in Jurassic carbonate deposits.

Pioneered statistical generation of complex reservoir models from logs and cores.

Developed multivariate statistical (SAS) lithofacies prediction program to identify and classify carbonate environments and provide correlation logs. This facilitated carbonate exploration in the Mississippi Salt Basin, Mississippi and Alabama.

Mississippi Salt Basin Exploration. Cretaceous-aged sandstones and limestones.

Integrated project log & core databases and existing 20 year old JES2 MVS batch applications to increase productivity of full color graphic displays 1,000% over old methods.

3 years performing regional lithofacies exploration analysis and prospecting for Smackover, Norphlet, Haynesville, and Cotton Valley in the Mississippi Salt Basin. Developed multivariate statistical lithofacies prediction program for carbonate rocks.

Combined seismic and well data regional lithofacies mapping of Smackover dolomites.

Performed regional lithofacies analysis and prospecting for Smackover, Hosston, Haynesville, and Cotton Valley in the Mississippi Salt Basin, MS-AL. Developed multivariate statistical lithofacies prediction program for lithology, porosity, and permeability estimates in carbonate rocks using geophysical logs. Combined seismic, well, and academic data into coherent exploration picture.

Evaluated exploration prospects for sound financial fundamentals.

Developed reservoir performance data from logs, cores, and DST's for the Hemlock Sandstone in the Cook Inlet for engineering design of production facilities.   This project is currently on-line for development.

Set up PC based database for LAS standard log files and the programs needed for data manipulation and maintenance.

North Slope, Alaska, Seismic sequence stratigraphic mapping of deep water turbidite sands and Mesozoic/Tertiary unconformity prospects.

Cook Inlet, Alaska. Remap of South Cook Inlet for 1994 Federal Sale. Evaluate and present selected Cook Inlet prospects to outside investors

Geophysical interpreter in Alaska for prospect evaluation/delineation of Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Tertiary prospects. Many of these prospects required an emphasis of prospects using seismic stratigraphy for onshore and offshore State and Federal lease sales.

3 years as geophysical interpreter in Alaska for prospect evaluation/delineation of North Slope and Cook Inlet Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Tertiary prospects with an emphasis on seismic stratigraphy for onshore and offshore State and Federal lease sales. Used a variety of 2D and 3D seismic datasets.

Conducted exploration and exploitation projects to evaluate lease sales in the North Slope area of Alaska. Geophysical skills were emphasized by reprocessing seismic data for ANWR area.

Louisiana

Onshore Louisiana Miocene Trend. Exploration for Hackberry channels and Salt domes using 3D data. 

Development mapping of hydrocarbon reserves from complexly faulted structures and fields in the south Louisiana Miocene trend. These studies involved setting up, integrating, and using well-log cross section software, 3D seismic, and geological mapping packages for the generation of additional development well locations (prospects).

Generated a full proration analysis of production data from IHS energy production data in  298 format to provide a breakdown of lease well production. This assigns (prorates) the production from a lease back to the individual well on the lease.

Salvage of computerized data from property sales and company acquisitions. This includs transfer and reformatting of data from different databases and applications, often saving months and years of manpower and data worth thousands of dollars which would otherwise have been lost.

Developed 2D computer model to analyze aquifer recharge and production rates in a closed basin using image wells to predict piezometric configuration of the aquifer response.

Helped established recharge and production rates of carbonate brines from trona-bearing aquifers for a $200 MM plant expansion project.

Applied ground water geochemistry to aquifer hydrology and geochemistry for water/rock interactions for engineering design of heavy metal recovery and aquifer restoration.

Provided computer generated statistics of base-line ground water chemical data and aquifer test samples collected before, during, and after hydrologic drawdown and recovery to calculate production rates of carbonate brines from trona-bearing aquifers for a $200 MM plant expansion project.

Constructed a prototype MVS batch cross-section generator which produced structural or stratigraphic displays with little user input. Geotechnical personnel were able to produce digital-data based log cross-sections after 2 hours of instruction

1 year doing EOR reservoir characterizations in New Mexico on Eunice Monument South field in Greyberg-San Andres carbonates.

Evaluated potash deposits in the Permian Basin using geostatistical analysis.

EOR Reservoir Characterizations. Reservoir mapping for generation of reservoir models for secondary and enhanced oil recovery of  Eunice Monument South field, New Mexico. Pioneered the statistical generation of complex reservoir models from logs and cores.

Converted Minerals Management Data into GeoGraphix project using the data from the MMS website.  Reformatted the well deviation data from grid-north format to true north format.

Analyzed the platform abandonment schedule and field declines to identify opportunities in property acquisitions for a company interested in purchasing offshore facilities.

Evaluated hundreds of outside deals for participation, farm-out or other action in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and the Texas Panhandle over a 20 year period.

Integrated the financial, land, and technical computer systems to support daily operations in an active oil and gas company. Provided team work support to the exploration & production staff with geophysical & geological interpretations using computer technology. Developed and used integration routines to seamlessly merge geological and geophysical data in a workstation environment.   Worked with teams of diversified geoscientists to delineate several major, successful onshore development plays.

Used mainframe databases to provide regional structure and production maps for area office geologists. Successfully predicted over-pressure maps of the Anadarko Basin from well test data

Combined text based accounting systems for land record data with computer based mapping applications to show distribution of expiring acreage and recent wells in the United States

Wrote an application to generate computer printed oil well scout tickets that resembled the old hand written format from the mainframe databases.

Coordinated development of low-tech, useful and simple-to-use mainframe tools with the data processing requirements of the production geologists in the Central Division.

Provided software support for mainframe, micro, and PC systems to improve the use of data processing for geologic computer applications.

Recommended equipment, software, hardware and network connections for the district's personal computers.

Provided computer hardware and software setup support for small and large independent oil & gas firms.

Compiled core analysis data using GE time share computer service. Anomalous values were flagged for more sophisticated laboratory studies.

Established the use of programmable calculators in office operations to allow highly complex data analyses of petrophysical information
