Vegetarian Baked Beans

1   pound   dried navy beans  
1   chopped onion
1/2   cup   brown sugar
1/4   cup   molasses
1   cup   liquid from beans
2   tablespoons   prepared mustard
2   tablespoons   ketchup
1   teaspoon   salt
        black pepper
1   tablespoon   Liquid Smoke (more to taste)   
Soak beans over night.  Drain; add water and bring beans to a boil; simmer for approximately 1 hour or until beans begin to soften. Drain, retaining 1 cup of liquid.  Mix brown sugar, molasses, mustard, ketchup, and retained liquid.  Add to beans.  Add onion, salt, pepper, and liquid smoke to taste. 

Cover tightly and bake for 5 hours at 275 degrees.  Add more liquid as needed.
