Top Burner Date Balls

1/2Cupmargarine, melted
3/4Cupsugar
2eggs
18-ounce packagechopped dates
1Cuppecans, chopped
1teaspoonvanilla
2Cupcrisp rice cereal (i.e., rice crispies)
2Cupflake coconut

In a heavy skillet, combine margarine, sugar, eggs, and dates; mix well. Cook over low flame 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in pecans and vanilla, then rice cereal. Drop by teaspoonfuls into coconut. Roll in coconut to cover. Cool, then chill if desired.
