In a mixing bowl, combine dates, water, sugar, honey and
butter... let stand 15 minutes. Stir in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and salt; stir into batter with the nuts. Pour into greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Bake in 325 degree oven for 50 to 60 minutes until wooden toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Slide onto cooling rack to cool completely. Makes 1 Loaf. Cool and serve over angel food cake with a whipped cream topping. |
