Hurricane Ike and the Barthelmy House

Hurricane Ike made US landfall at Galveston, Texas on September 13 at 2:10am CDT, as a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 110 mph.
At 2:17am we lost power way up north in Spring and would not get power back until the afternoon of September 23rd.  And we weren't the
only ones... nearly 2.5 million Houstonians were without power!  That meant no grocery stores, no doctors, no gas stations, and no gas!
Dave's brother, Slim, offered to drive from Tennessee with a generator, gasoline, ice, water, and perishable foods and we gladly accepted.
He brought his son-in-law, Donnie, and they arrived on Wednesday... we were so grateful.  What a help they were!
